ACT for Parents: Manage Stress, Stay Connected, Lead with Your Values was developed to help parents reconnect with what matters most when stress, separation, or divorce make parenting feel harder. Psychological research shows that during adverse life transitions, stress and emotional overload can pull parents away from their values—not because they don’t care, but because their nervous system is under strain. This course supports parents in learning how to slow down stress reactions, stay emotionally present with their children, and use their values as a steady guide for parenting decisions. The focus is not on perfect parenting, but on building psychological flexibility—pausing, repairing when things go off track, and responding with intention rather than guilt or reactivity. The course was developed and is facilitated by Patricia Wright, MA (Forensic Psychology), MBA-HR, a Clinical Traumatologist and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) practitioner through the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science. As an Accredited Family Mediator and field researcher, Patricia brings a trauma-informed, real-world understanding of family stress, conflict, and change. Her goal in developing this course was to create a practical, compassionate learning space where parents feel supported—not judged—and are given tools to lead their families with clarity, connection, and values-aligned intention, even during difficult seasons.
